A two-vehicle accident claimed the life of a
Fairless Hills man in the early morning hours of
Christmas Eve.
Police said 49-year-old William N. Ray was
pronounced dead at the scene after his pickup truck
collided and became wedged beneath the undercarriage
of a tractor-trailer on Green Lane in Bristol
Township.
The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. Saturday
morning.
The tractor-trailer was turning left onto Green
Lane toward the Pennsylvania Turnpike and was
stretched across both lanes when Ray's northbound
truck struck the rig in the 2200 block of Green
Lane, according to a police report.
The front end of Ray's truck was jammed
underneath the trailer and Edgely firefighters
had to shred the pickup's cab to remove the driver.
Green Lane was closed to all traffic for 21/2 hours.
Harry Rinkus, 49, was driving the tractor-trailer
and was not injured. Police did not know his
hometown.
On Nov. 3, Timothy Warner was killed in a similar
accident involving a tractor-trailer on Green Lane,
police said. That accident occurred when Warner
struck a tractor-trailer turning left onto Green
Lane from Airport Road. Warner's car was also
traveling northbound on Green Lane and struck the
side of the tractor-trailer.
Saturday's accident is still under investigation
and witnesses are asked to contact Bristol Township
police Officer Chris Phillips at 215-785-6107 with
information.
